My Best Friend

Almost a year ago I had to watch my best friend of 20+ years move far, far away to the beach. Well, Little River. So, anytime I get to the beach I HAVE to get my Merissa time. Her family was gracious enough to give her to me for a night so we could try and catch up and just have some fun!

I love you, Ski Slope. I cherish our friendship and thank God for you...

Michael Dean's 1st Trip to the Beach

This past weekend we took the little guy to the beach for the first time! We're so fortunate to have friends (Brenda & Grady) that let us use their condo so we've become pretty comfortable with North Myrtle Beach. And, we really don't feel like tourists anymore...so we spent our time just hanging out and eating. Well, then, we tried to walk off all we'd been eating!

We took MD in the water, briefly, and he didn't seem to mind at all! We dug his little feet in the sand and he didn't make a peep. He was only frustrated because his little hat kept falling in his eyes. He likes to be able to see what's going on and if he can't he'll let you know...

He's such a joy to be around and I just can't put into words how much I love my little man.

Cool man...

I can't see, mom!

Just Re-posting a Fav of Mine

After MD's first "sponge" bath

What's Happening?

OK, so you all need to come over to our house so I can just show you the many, many pictures I've been taking. I just don't have time to get all the ones on here I'd like. Thank goodness mom emails me daily photos when Michael Dean is with her the 3, long days I'm at work!

Some updates...

1 - My mom had a very special visitor with her the past week, one of her best friends, Kay from Colorado (see picture). They surprised me with her so when she came walking into mom's house on my birthday I was happily shocked. Well, actually, Polly had just spoiled the surprise like 2 minutes earlier so I was a happily (kinda) shocked :)

2 - MD had his 2 month check-up this past Monday. Yup, he's 2 months old! He'll be 10 weeks old Saturday. Ahhh...He did wonderful. He just loves Dr. Ha but didn't love the nurses so much when they shoved 3 huge needles into his legs. One of his vaccinations was given orally so he loved that. He sucked it right down. I tell ya, the kid likes to eat! So, here's his stats as of 2 months old --> 13lbs. 10oz. (90th percentile), 25in. (95th percentile) Ahhhh...he's just growing so much!

3 - I can safely say, now, that our little guy is sleeping through the night and has been doing so since 7.5 weeks old. Every mom's dream, right?! I put him down for the night around 9pm and he's awake around 5:30am. It really has helped my transition back to work be a little less painful. Oh, it's still painful but the getting sleep at night thing really does help the 45-minute commute twice a day.

Well, there are many words left to type about my precious little man but I'll stop here. And, I thought I didn't want a kid...

MD's Many Faces

Happy Birthday, mommy! So far Michael Dean has told me Happy Birthday 3 ways: a phone call to my work this morning (with daddy's help), a beautiful pot of flowers sent to me at work and the below pics. Yup, he's already learning pretty quickly...when mommy's happy, everyone's happy :)

1st Day at G-ma's

So, I'm back to work...well, just 3 days a week but, still. Wow, where did those 8 weeks go? Seems like just yesterday I was bundling little MD in 2 blankets in the hospital.

He's staying with G-ma the 3 days I'm at work and she's already sending me pictures. Yeah! Go mom! MD has been smiling some the past few weeks and mom finally caught a few on camera today. Even though I miss those smiles in person it's nice to see he can be happy without his mommy. I guess...

Camo Kid

So, this pic is a few weeks old (and I know this because this outfit barely fits Michael Dean now!) but I just had to post it. How cute is he? One of my old co-workers bought this for MD and it quickly became one of my favorite outfits. I waited too long to get him in it, though, because when I took the skull cap off he had red lines on his forehead. Oops. No wonder he was crying with it on...

And...I'm back to work Tuesday, 1 day before I turn the big 3-0. Honestly, there's a part of me that is ready to start up that part of my life again but then there's another part of me that's going to miss my sweet little man horribly. G-ma will have him the 3 days I'm at work, though, so it softens the blow a bit. Anyway, wish us both luck...especially for me to stay awake during my 3-hour (OK, 45 minutes) long commute and for MD to continue sleeping 8 hours a night...the 2 kinda go together!
