Sick Big Mommy

OK, so how in the world do I keep from getting every disease MD comes home with? This being sick thing is getting real old!

Sick Little Boy

This past Sunday, Michael Dean had a few firsts:

- The first time he's really thrown up. 3 times. Spit-up doesn't count.
- The first time he's laid with mommy on the couch, for more than 5 seconds.
- The first time he's taken a nap on his Spidey couch, with no prompting from mom. It wasn't a first for Mila.

Sunday was a rough day for him, but he's a little better now. He's still sick with who knows what. I guess it's whatever the latest illness is that daycare has thrown at him. Or it could be that molar he's popping out (3 in the last month!) Who knows. I'm just ready for him to have a sound, uninterrupted night's sleep again - for his and my sake!

In the Kitchen

A lot happens in our kitchen. It's the first room you see when you walk in our front door - so, naturally, all the items and activities from our busy days end up in this room. It's kinda like the "home base" in our house. Plus I'm finding that with a kid, food plays a very important role in his life. Michael Dean spends a lot of time with me in our kitchen. He just loves the fridge, dishwasher, looking out the windows for daddy, playing with the animals on our kitchenette chairs and digging out our measuring cups from what mommy thought was an unreachable place. It's just amazing how every-day things are so much fun for him. See below...

Didn't want to touch the pumpkin guts - but was completely intrigued with the finished product

Trying out that spoon thing

The boy loves the fridge

Turned around for about 5 seconds and this is what I found

Say cheese!

A visit from his Auntie Melissa (a college roommate of mine passing through!)

OK, so not in the kitchen - but Mila's found her new, favorite spot in the house. What a hard life, ya know?!

Triple Coupons!

OK, after 4 trips (on different days so I didn't get funny looks!) I got $153 worth of groceries for $58. Yippee!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Just in case anyone's obsessed with coupons, like I am - this weekend (Fri thru Sun) is Triple Coupons at Bloom. (And, I think also at Harris Teeter.)
I used my 1st set of 20 coupons this morning. My bill was $73.66 and I only paid $27.19! And, really I had to get milk, fruit, chicken, etc...stuff we needed that I didn't have coupons for. So, I pretty much got all my coupon items FREE!
OK, I'll stop now. I was about to jump out of my skin at the cash register watching all that $$ melt off my bill. Makes me happy.
What a Week...
Happy (Late) Halloween everyone! We had a week packed full of daycare parties, church hayrides and of course Michael Dean as a cow. It really was a fun week.
MD's daycare was celebrating their 5th year in operation as well as Halloween/Fall. So, each day had a "theme". Since MD doesn't go on Mondays he was able to participate in the last 4 days - "Favorite Team" day, "Mismatch" day, "Country Bumpkin" day and "Orange Everywhere" day. Here's photos from the 1st 3 days:
On Friday (Halloween) his daycare had a festival in the morning, which Donnie and I went to with Michael Dean. Then his class had an all-you-can-eat-sweets party in the afternoon that my mom and I attended! It truly was amazing to see my little guy sitting at a tiny table with all of his tiny friends eating their cupcakes and chocolate chip cookies. When Nana and I got there, MD just sat in his little chair enjoying his treats. He didn't try to get up - or cry - or anything. A pretty proud moment for mom. (Oh, and the 4th shot below is what MD thought of the bouncy tent!)
After MD's little daycare party, I took him home and got him suited up in his (handmade!) cow costume. Oh my gosh - how cute he was! He loved his cowbell but hated his cow ears. We managed to snap a few shots with the hat on, but that was about it. Now, that night at our church's Trunk 'n Treat he kept it on - only because he had a constant supply of Dum-Dum suckers in both hands. That is how he helped me hand out candy - by goobering up all the unwrapped suckers! It really was cool, though. He sat/stood in the back of my Escape as I handed out candy and was perfectly happy the whole time.
