Easter Recap

Well, MD got his fill of easter egg hunts this year. The 1st was a disaster but the 2nd and 3rd were a lot of fun!

Hunt #2
Our church, Rocky River Community Church, sponsored an egg hunt at Franke Liske Park this past Saturday. It was happily well organized and MD had plenty of candy-filled eggs to choose from. Oh, and he got his first taste of big-boy swings and looooved them!

Hunt #3
Mimi and Papa's church, New Hope Baptist, had an Easter celebration Sunday morning and followed it with an egg hunt for the kiddos. This time the eggs were filled with money! Unfortunately, MD doesn't understand yet that paper money is way more fun than coin money, so he mainly went for the eggs that made noise. It truly was a good time.

The Harrisburg Egg "Flop"

Being a first-time parent (or just a parent) makes you do crazy things, I guess.

I (and Tina) had been seeing signs for Harrisburg's Egg Drop for a while and thought it would be a lot of fun to take MD (and Blake) to. So, despite the continual forecasting of rain and Donnie's many hints (ignored by me!) about rain, we loaded up the family and made the half-mile trek to the Egg Drop. We parked about 2 feet from our house and began the long walk to the park.

Well, after running people over with our stroller, getting pelted by grass and dirt from the helicopter droppings, fighting other kids...I mean parents for eggs, and reassuring Michael Dean that the helicopter wasn't going to get him, we got ONE EGG! Most kids...I mean parents didn't heed the 5-egg limit warning so someone threw back one lonely purple egg and Grams snatched it up.

It really was a lot of fun because it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience (mainly because we'll never be stupid enough to do it again!) and MD experienced a lot of firsts...a loud helicopter, eating dead grass and a plastic egg, being outside during a thunderstorm and getting jostled around on Fred's drenched shoulder. Good times.

Happy Family Photo (before the rain and thunderstorms)

So Much to Report on...

First, Donnie made it back from Vegas fine early Saturday morning. He had a great time and is still wiped out from the 4-hour time change (yah, the daylight savings thing really kicked his butt!) Anyway, we missed him and we're glad to have him home. He didn't win us a new Jaguar but he did manage to win a TomTom GPS thing. Something he's been wanting...

Second, a couple birthdays. My sweet little nephew turned 16!!!! this past Saturday. He was able to stay un-grounded long enough for his mom to throw him a pretty cool party. I heard the cops were called and a drug search was done, but all-in-all, a success ;) I wouldn't know since I'm an old fart now who has to have her kid home by 8:15 to go to bed. Tee hee. I love it!

And, of course, the other birthdays belong to my precious one. I don't think I posted his 7-month birthday pics (in his PJs...I ran out of time!) so here they are. And, he actually just turned 8-months old last Friday so when daddy came home we took some pictures. Not the greatest but his outfit was just so darn cute that I couldn't pass up the photo op.

Then, lastly, since MD's now 8-months old I'm (while praying hard he doesn't choke) starting stage 3 foods. You know, the ones with the little bits floating around. He's done OK so far. The 1st one I tried was broccoli, carrots & cheese. Doesn't sound bad, right? Well, MD didn't agree...see below.

Happy 16 Chan!

We love our Aunty P...

Missing her Daddy...

"Ruff, ruff...nnn, nnn, nnn...ruff, ruff, ruff." (Roughly translated - "I miss you, daddy. Come home soon.")

Just Hanging Out...

Well, I did my best to get a picture of our son, Mila and me. Here's what I came up with. It's a bit of a challenge when it's just me here!

Mila and MD play better by the day. She now sees him as a little boy rather than a toy that moves so she thinks he'll take her toy and throw it for her. It's absolutely adorable. Best buddies...in the making.

Look, Dad...No, I mean 2 Hands

Hi Daddy! I really miss you. Well, mom, Mila and Monkey miss you too, but I'm the only one that mommy takes pictures of. I tried to get the camera from her so I could take a picture of her but she wouldn't let me. I'll try again tomorrow.

Aren't you so proud of me, daddy? I got some juice out of my sippy cup all by myself! I used both hands and everything. Come home soon, daddy. I love you. And, of course, mommy does too...

Hi Daddy!

Mommy and I went to Wal-Mart tonight and she got me these really cool shoes. I was a good boy, I guess. That's why she got me the shoes...and some yummy mac & cheese. We'll see if I like it. Probably not.

I love you, daddy :)
