Oh How Things Have Changed

One morning during my daily routine of keeping Michael Dean fed and happy, I had to stop and take a deep breath. I realized that out of nowhere, my kitchen counter suddenly became something it's never been. A baby's counter. It's no longer just a space for spices and cool kitchen utensils. It's a holding place for bottles, formula, water, pacifiers, etc... It is a wonderful change but a somewhat surreal change. Who would have ever thought my kitchen counter would look like this:

OK, due to the books (which we just skim), articles (which we don't read), g-ma (by the way, mom, so far that's the frontrunner name for MD to call you) and mostly the doctors, Donnie and I fear (I guess) our little man is going to end up with a flat head since he spends most of his time on his back. From day 1 he's done amazingly well with trying to hold his head up but it tends to flop back to where it came from within seconds. So, we practice "tummy time" as much as possible. Though, MD (like his mommy) lacks patience so he's typically fussing after a few minutes. But, we've managed a few sessions and here's the pics to prove it!

Little Michael Dean has been blessed with so many people who love him and have come to meet him in the weeks that he's been here. We try to get pics with everyone so I do have a lot, and I mean a lot, of pics that I could post but I wanted to highlight the cousins! I'm missing 2 of the cousins' pics but here's the rest.

Happy Birthday, Bright Eyes

Our little man turned 1 month old on 8.7.07 (last Tuesday...hey, I'm getting better at keeping this thing up to date.) He had his 1-month checkup and is now a whopping 10lbs. 10oz. and 22.5 inches long! Wow, I knew my back pain wasn't just all in my head :)

We're proud of our Michael Dean and are just crazy excited to know he's growing as he should...and more!

(Oh, and mommy has a day off today as Grandma Donna is watching MD for me! So far, I've been able to run a few errands, get Japanese takeout for lunch, take a long shower and wash my hair, do my nails and toenails, listen to the new (OK, so new to me) Taylor Swift CD I just got and update my blog. A day like this is awesome...but I gotta admit...I miss him)

Little Feet

4 Weeks Old Today!

Well, today Michael Dean turns 4 weeks! OK, so I guess 8.7.07 (Tuesday) is a little more exciting since I can then say he is 1 month old. He's just growing so much. I put him on the scale with me yesterday and it looks like he is at least 10lbs! Like his dad, he likes his food :)

He is such a good boy. He is eating every 3 hours (night & day) so I'm not getting too much sleep nowadays. I'm hanging in there, though. Donnie put up blinds in our living room today so I now don't have to feel like some peeper is looking in during MD's early, early morning feedings.
