Just a Few Tears

Well, we're into Daycare, Week #2. Just 1 day, so far, but it already seems like a week! Donnie said that MD cried a little at drop-off this morning, but not as bad as last week. And when I spoke with the director a little while ago, she said he was doing great. Just a few tears.

However, mommy did just realize she has his beloved paci WITH HER so they are going to try to improvise. (You know, steal some other kid's paci while he's not looking) He typically doesn't use it throughout the day - only at naps. Well, naptime starts at noon and so far no phone call. So, I'm just keeping my fingers crossed. No news is good news, right?!

Michael Dean is so much fun. Donnie & I just can't get enough time with that boy. We try to soak up every second with him and here's a few pics to prove it...as if you need proof!

MD's still trying to get the hang of this camera thing (those are his PJs, btw)

Dear God...

Please give me a peace today.

Please give Michael Dean a peace today.

Please let me get to the daycare, then home from work with the gas that's in my car.

Please help my tummy. It really hurts.

Please help Donnie as he's dealing with a lot from his job today.

Please help the other people I have on my mind that are struggling. You know who they are.

Please give our President wisdom today.

"Lord I know the only way is through this. But Lord, I know I need You to help me do this." (FFH lyrics: Lord Move, or Move Me - great song, btw)

Home Sick

Well, today will not be MD's first day in daycare. I'm not going to put a smiley or frowny face with that - because I have mixed emotions. I've been trying to mentally prepare for today for a while so I was ready, I think. It would have been nice to just get it over with.

Now, for the smiley face. I get to be home with him today :) Although he's sick, he's still very pleasant to be around. He's been running a slight fever, is not eating well and is just pooped.

I do pray he's better by tomorrow. Not because I can't wait to get him in daycare. But because I really want to see how he's going to do - and we already paid for this week.

Anyway, we're home. One more day with my non-daycare, sweet one.

Last Week @ Nana's

For those of you who don't know, this will be Michael Dean's last week with Nana (my mom). He will be starting at a daycare in Concord next Tuesday. We made this decision for many reasons:

~ He needs interaction with other kiddos his age
~ MD's wearing Nana out, now that he's very mobile and vocal :)
~ We really want him to learn how to sleep on a little, squishy mat on the floor with his shoes on. OK, not really. That part actually makes me sad - but what are ya gonna do?

OK, really just 2 reasons. We truly do desire him to get more baby, social interaction and we're hoping this will be a good way to get that. We hope. And, Nana would probably watch him until he enrolls in college, but it's just getting hard - on both of them. So, daycare it is. I was glad to see that a high school friend of mine is the director at the daycare we chose and both her kids (2 & 4) attend. That helped soften the blow a bit.

So, please keep us in your prayers. We have many mixed emotions about this change but we're confident it's going to work out. And, I'm sure as I did when we first got Mila - I'll cry the first week - and then move on. This time around, though, I don't think Donnie will wonder why in the world we got a dog, I mean a son, if I was just going to cry the whole time :)

Nana's been clicking away this week - so here's a few of my favorites:

One More from the Fair

(OK, so I was tempted to title this one "Wordless Wednesday" as well - but then that would be 2 weeks in a row with no posts. Ah, the horror!)

Oh What a Night

The Cabarrus County Fair! We've gone almost every year since we moved here back in 1986. It was a bit different for us this year, though. We had a kid with us!

Michael Dean seemed to really enjoy all the food, noises, lights, rides and especially the animals. He was "moo-ing" from the minute we stepped into the building with all the animals. He even got to touch a real, live cow! No milking, though.

Moo!

First Cow Lick

MD, the chick magnet

It was way more fun to eat the corn than play in it...

...and eat the ride tickets, too!

First big-boy ride

Buddies, MD and Blake

MD was too small for this so we stayed on the ground while Tina & Blake went flying

No crying, but not too fond of sitting on the horsy just yet
